
AARP Kicks off their national campaign 'DividedWeFail.org' At Brightview Commons Retirement Community

South Kingstown, RI Who/What: Brightview Commons Retirement Community, in partnership with AARP, will host a specially designed event to educate attendees on DividedWeFail.org - which is AARP's national effort to raise the voice of millions of American's who believe that health care and lifetime financial security are the most pressing domestic issues facing our nation.

Why: 23% of American have problems paying medical bills and millions of older Americans go bankrupt each year because of overriding healthcare costs and medical bills. Today, 46 million American are uninsured. AARP has a national membership of 38 million voices who- together- are conducting this grass-roots campaign to place these important issues at the forefront of our Presidential candidates.
AARP State Director, Kathleen Connell has been at the helm of RI's AARP organization since 2001, following a long career in public service, education and health care. Her career in public service includes three terms as the elected Secretary of State in Rhode Island as well as a term in the General Assembly.
Also speaking will be newly appointed AARP State President, Dr. Anthony (Tony) J. Regine, DDS (ret) who has been active in several communities throughout the State. He served as Board President for The Advent House; and was a contributing Board member for the RI Heart Association, the Autism project and many other noteworthy causes. Dr. Regine is a member of the American Dental Association and is well-known for the numerous hours and service he has devoted in the Volunteer Dental Service Program for low income clients.
