Leadership Team

Based in Baltimore, MD, Brightview Senior Living, LLC opened its first senior living community in Maryland in 1999. Today, Brightview offers over forty-five communities in eight states - Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia. The communities include Senior Independent Living, Assisted Living, Dementia Care, and Enhanced Care options.

Arnold Richman, C0-Chairman, Partner, Brightview Senior Living

Arnold Richman - Co-Chair

Arnold Richman, Chairman of Brightview Senior Living, joined the company in 1995. In his role, Arnie advises the company in developing business plans, strategies, and investor relations. Before joining the company, Arnie was a partner of Meridian Healthcare, a company that developed and managed nursing homes and related businesses.  Arnie graduated from the University of Maryland with his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Currently, Arnie serves on the boards of The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, and The Baltimore Equitable Society. He previously served on boards for Johns Hopkins Medicine and The Institute for Christian and Jewish Studies.

Marilynn Duker

Marilynn Duker - Co-Chair

Co-Chair. Marilynn joined the company, then known as The Shelter Group, in 1982, a little over a decade later, she helped found Brightview, bringing to it extensive experience in development. She began her career as a developer and has since been involved in every phase of the company’s operations and growth. Marilynn serves on the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing (NIC) Operator Advisory Board, the Mercy Health Systems Board of Trustees, the University of Maryland at Baltimore BioPark Corporation Board of Directors, and The College of Wooster Board of Trustees. She is a member of the Committee of 200. She is also a graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee LEADERship Program. Marilynn was recognized as the Loyola University of Maryland Sellinger School Business Leader of the Year in 2019. In 2020, The Daily Record named her one of five Influential Marylanders in Business. Prior to joining the company, Marilynn served as a Presidential Intern at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). She is a graduate of The College of Wooster and holds a Master's Degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Doug Dollenberg, President, Partner, Brightview Senior Living

Doug Dollenberg Jr. - President & CEO

Doug Dollenberg joined Brightview Senior Living as President in 2017 with a vision of investing in people and continuing to develop the talented team that is the foundation of Brightview’s success. In ensuring that Brightview remains a great place to work and a great place to live, Doug has overall responsibility for Brightview’s Operations, Development, and Finance divisions. He is committed to championing the organization’s culture and strengthening Brightview’s brand and reputation as a premier senior living company. Doug most recently served on the executive leadership team at TESSCO before joining Brightview. He began his career as an engineer at Whitman, Requardt, and Associates before joining McKinsey & Company, where he worked across many different businesses and industries. Doug graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and earned his MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He currently serves on the board of the Maryland Science Center.

Jeffrey Hettleman, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Partner, Brightview Senior Living

Jeffrey Hettleman - Executive Vice President & CFO

As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Jeffrey Hettleman is responsible for Brightview’s finances, risk management, accounting, and investor relations. Jeff joined the company in 1994 and, in his tenure, has helped ensure that Brightview has the capital strategies and relationships necessary to support the company and its growth. Jeff currently serves on the board for WYPR and as treasurer for Afya Baltimore, Inc., which runs The Belair-Edison School and Tunbridge Public Charter School in Baltimore City. He also has a long history of leadership and advocacy in Maryland’s affordable housing industry. Before joining the company, Jeff was an attorney at the law firm of Piper & Marbury, now DLA Piper. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Haverford College and a J.D. from the Yale Law School.

David Carliner

David Carliner - Executive Vice President

David Carliner, Executive Vice President of Development, is responsible for creating the canvas upon which Brightview can create vibrant senior living communities. With a focus on continual innovation, his team identifies new markets and sites for Brightview communities, forecasts financial viability for those communities, and coordinates the planning and construction process. Understanding that senior living residents are more interested in choice than ever, David and the entire Development team continue to redefine the typical offerings of a Brightview community. Outside of his work with Brightview, David currently serves on the Jewish Community Services Advisory Council and the board of Tribute Home Care. Prior to joining the company in 2002, David oversaw facility development at Meridian Healthcare. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Connecticut College, a Master’s degree in Health Service Administration from the George Washington University, and a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law.

Brian Engle, Executive Vice President of Operations, Partner, Brightview Senior Living

Brian Engle - Executive Vice President Operations

Brian Engle is the Executive Vice President of Operations for Brightview Senior Living and is responsible for leading and directing the operations of the management company and, by extension, the overall operations of all communities. He joined the company in 1993 and has been involved in nearly every phase of Brightview’s operations and growth. Brian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Gannon University. He has also completed various graduate and executive education courses focused on senior living operations, innovation, and change management at the University of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, and Harvard’s Business School.

Andrea Griesmar, Senior Vice President of Operations, Brightview Senior Living

Andrea Griesmar - Senior Vice President of Talent Strategies

In her role as Senior Vice President of Talent Strategies, Andrea champions internal talent development; leads the organization’s efforts around diversity, equity, inclusion, and access for all; and is responsible for overall human resources and talent strategies. Before assuming her current role, Andrea served as Senior Vice President of Operations, leading a group of subject matter experts and regional teams who support operations across a wide variety of disciplines. Prior to joining Brightview in 2007, Andrea enjoyed 20 years of progressive leadership experience in the financial services industry. She graduated from Purdue University and lives in Baltimore City. Andrea serves on the Executive Committee of SBLC Learning Works, an organization dedicated to supporting educationally disadvantaged adults in the city.

Julie Masiello, Senior Vice President of Technology and Marketing, Brightview Senior Living

Julie Masiello - Senior Vice President, Technology and Marketing

As Brightview’s principal brand manager, Julie Masiello, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Technology, focuses on amplifying the company’s messaging about the magic that happens inside the walls of Brightview communities. In addition to leading the organization’s digital marketing, lead generation, and sales efforts, she heads Brightview’s Information Technology team, which manages business analysis, systems, IT infrastructure, and more. Currently, Julie serves on the Advisory Committee for the Graham Equestrian Center – a nonprofit committed to providing local children and adults the opportunity to enjoy riding regardless of income or ability. Before joining Brightview, she held marketing leadership roles in the insurance and banking industries. Julie graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and International Relations.

Dave Dalpe, Senior Vice President of Operations, Brightview Senior Living

Dave Dalpe, Senior Vice President of Operations

Since 2018, Dave Dalpe, Senior Vice President of Operations, has brought operational support to Brightview’s growing portfolio of senior living communities. He currently oversees operations at our Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey communities. Dave also leads Brightview’s Hospitality Services, which include vibrant living, dining, business operations, capital improvements, and learning and development. As a strong supporter of Brightview’s people-first mentality, Dave is passionate about growing and developing the leadership team in his regions. Dave has a Bachelor’s degree in History from Cornell University and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University. He remains active with the Cornell Alumni Network and spends time volunteering with his various community organizations with his family.

Anne Pinter, Senior Vice President of Operations, Brightview Senior Living

Anne Pinter, Senior Vice President of Operations

Anne Pinter, Vice President of Operations, has over 25 years of leadership experience in the senior living industry. In her role with Brightview, she provides operational support to half of the company’s portfolio in the New York, New England, and DC/Virginia regions. Anne ensures that her communities hit their key performance metrics and champions the Brightview culture to enable strong resident engagement and associate retention and development. Before joining Brightview, Anne worked in Atria Senior Living for almost 20 years, most recently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies from the University of South Florida. Anne previously was part of the American Society of Training and Development and the Empire State Association of Assisted Living.

Steve Marker, Senior Vice President of Development - Brightview Senior Living

Steve Marker, Senior Vice President of Development

Steve Marker joined Brightview in 2018 and serves as Senior Vice President of Development. In his role, Steve identifies future sites and neighborhoods for Brightview communities and envisions the story of how each new community will look and feel. He works with external community members and the internal Brightview team to build a project that fits the local community. Steve enjoys leveraging relationships to collaborate and cooperate with a new community’s surrounding amenities and neighborhood. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Syracuse University and his Master’s degree in Real Estate and Infrastructure Development from Johns Hopkins University.
