A Celebration of Nature

Residents at Brightview Towson celebrated Arbor Day with an interactive trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
“We had an amazing time,” said Courtney David, Vibrant Living Director. “The sights, smells, and sounds of the gardens were wonderful – the beautiful sights of the flowers, the smell of the cut grass and the aroma of the lilies, and the sound of birds chirping. Everyone was mesmerized by the tulips. We also met a new friend.”
In preparation for the outing, residents made t-shirts, decorated hats, and tie-dyed paper flowers. They also painted tulips and, for the road trip, created a playlist with songs about trees and flowers. ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips,’ ‘Wild Irish Rose,’ and ‘Tall, Tall Trees’ were a few of the resident favorites.
“The trip back and forth to the gardens was also memorable,” added Courtney. “Our playlist was a hit and we had a ‘ho down’ on the way back. We always have fun!”
Celebrated each year on the last Friday in April, National Arbor Day celebrates the roles of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care.
