As a teenager, Chelsea Almeida worked as a dining server in an assisted living community, where her experiences with a resident inspired her college essay. Her passion for working with seniors continued to grow as she majored in Health Services Administration in college. Chelsea has worked in senior living for over eight years, five of which have been with Brightview Senior Living. She led the newly opened communities of Brightview West End and Brightview Woodmont in the DC suburbs of Rockville and Bethesda before moving back to New England. Chelsea now serves as the Executive Director of Brightview Arlington.
For Chelsea, her passion for her work is seeing the direct impact she can make on a resident’s life. “I love when a new resident moves into the community,” she said. “We start providing them with a service plan, and now they’re thriving.” Chelsea also loves seeing how much joy residents receive from big parties or special events in the community. “You see their faces light up, and they talk about it for days,” she said.
Get to know more about Chelsea and her work at Brightview Arlington:
- I left my lunch at home today because this meal is on the menu: Taco salad
- My residents can always count on me to: Be there to listen to them. They all know how to reach me directly, and sometimes they just need to talk through something. I always lend a listening ear.
- My favorite local spot is: The Fells (Middlesex Fells Reservation)
- Outside of work, I like to: Workout at my boxing gym, take my dog for walks, and hang out with family
